The countryside is important
Rural growth together with the town makes the whole municipality stronger. Boden has valuable nature and cultural environments that we protect. We work with village development groups toward a lively and sustainable countryside.
Rural development and awards
Each year the Municipal Executive Committee, together with Boden’s Rural Council, names Village or Countryside of the Year. The prize is ten thousand kronor and is awarded in August during the Harvest Festival and Environment Days.
Rural retail
The municipality helps ensure households have access to everyday goods. The town has many shops. In sparsely populated areas there are fewer. The Municipal Executive Office plans and supports rural shops. There is a shop in Harads and a country store in Gunnarsbyn. In Gunnarsbyn, the Råne River Valley Economic Association manages home delivery of goods. The municipal office issues opinions on service grants and administers home delivery subsidies for rural shops. A local development programme for commercial service is adopted by the Municipal Council.
Service points
Service points make everyday life easier by offering local services and reducing trips to the town. The content changes over time based on local needs. Today services can include:
- Public Employment Service
- Electronic health services
- Swedish Social Insurance Agency (selected parts)
- Handy help and service mediation
- Municipal switchboard for extended service
- Church activities
- Postal services
Grants for rural development
There are grants for projects that strengthen rural development. Applications are made through the municipality’s electronic services. You need electronic identification.
Village grant
About forty village development groups operate in the municipality. Most apply each year for the village grant. The amount is based on the number of residents in the village. Attach last year’s activity report to the application. Apply.
Project funds
Village development groups can also apply for project funds for local initiatives. The Municipal Executive Office, Business Development, together with the Rural Council, has set rules for which projects can receive support. Apply.
