Consultation: Detailed development plan for the property block Ekroten

The municipality is preparing a new detailed development plan for the Ekroten block in central Boden. The plan makes it possible to develop the area with housing, hotels, businesses and services.

Purpose and background

The Ekroten block is located in central Boden, at the intersection of Drottninggatan and Sadelmakaregatan. The property covers approximately 3,300 square metres and currently includes the town centre building.

The municipality is now preparing a new detailed development plan to develop the area and meet the need for housing, hotels and offices.

Plan proposal

The proposal does not fully align with the detailed comprehensive plan for Boden and Sävast, adopted in 2020, where the area is intended for housing.

The detailed plan examines whether the land can be used for housing, commercial uses and temporary accommodation. The plan allows buildings of approximately 2–12 storeys. The new development is proposed to include housing, hotels, offices, retail, restaurants and parking.

Process and decision

As the proposal deviates from the comprehensive plan and is considered to be of significant public interest, it is processed under an extended procedure in accordance with the Planning and Building Act (2010:900).

The municipality assesses that the plan will not result in any significant environmental impact.

Consultation

The detailed development plan is on public display for review from 13 April to 5 May 2026.

You can review the plan at:

  • Citizen Service, City Hall: Weekdays 08:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00.
  • City Library: During regular opening hours.

Consultation meeting

We will hold a consultation meeting on 22 April, 18:00–19:30, in the Municipal Executive Board Chamber at the Town Hall (entrance from Kyrkgatan).

The meeting will begin with information about the planning proposal, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.

Submit comments

f you wish to submit comments on the plan proposal, you must do so in writing no later than 5 May 2026.

Anyone who does not submit written comments during the review period may lose the right to appeal the municipal council’s decision to adopt the detailed development plan.
