About the project

Boden is growing and developing. New companies are moving into Boden Industrial Park, which increases the need for smooth and sustainable ways to travel – to, from and within the area.

The project makes it easier and safer to walk, cycle and travel by bus. It benefits everyone who commutes, lives, or visits the area.

The goal is for more people to travel quickly, safely and comfortably in a sustainable way.
For example, you should be able to cycle to the bus and continue your journey without hassle.

The project contributes to better accessibility, greater safety and lower climate impact.
It is an important part of Boden’s green transition and supports the work with Agenda 2030.

The project supports six global goals

  • Good health and well-being
  • Gender equality
  • Sustainable industry, innovation and infrastructure
  • Reduced inequalities
  • Sustainable cities and communities
  • Partnerships for the goals

What we are doing

We are working on several initiatives that make it easier to travel sustainably in Boden:

  • Svartbyvägen is being rebuilt and will get a new walking and cycling path of about 3.3 kilometres leading to Boden Industrial Park.
  • A new walking and cycling path of about 1.3 kilometres is being built between Södra and Norra Svartbyn via Fyragårdarshöjden, connecting to the existing network.
  • At the travel centre, four charging stations for electric bicycles are being installed.
  • Two safe crossings for pedestrians and cyclists are being built in Norra Svartbyn.
  • Two new bus stops with bicycle racks are being added, along with a bus stop designed to make boarding and exiting safer.
  • The municipality is also providing information and dialogue to encourage more people to walk, cycle or take the bus in their daily travel.
