About the project
KLiV is a three-year project where Adult Education and the Social Services Department in Boden Municipality work together to strengthen skills in elderly care. Elderly care faces major recruitment needs, and many employees do not have formal training for the job today. The project aims to give staff better opportunities to develop and to create safety and quality in their daily work.
What we are doing
The project makes use of the knowledge and experience that assistant nurses already have. Some of them have been trained to become workplace instructors. Each participant receives an assessment of their experience and skills before starting KLiV.
Training takes place during regular working hours and is closely linked to daily tasks. Participants can learn at their own pace and use their new skills directly when working with older people.
After completing KLiV, participants receive certificates and an individual plan for further studies.
Timeline and current status
The project runs until May 2027. So far, more than 100 people have been assessed, and around 60 have taken part in the training. Several participants have later chosen to study while continuing to work.
The goal is to assess 200 people. We are already seeing positive results. Participants appreciate the training from the instructors and say they are learning more about topics such as illnesses in older people, hygiene, communication, and core values in care.
Funding, collaborations and responsibilities
KLiV is a collaboration between the Social Services Department and Adult Education in Boden Municipality. The project is largely funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
