Svedjan wastewater treatment plant

We are improving the area around the treatment plant to upgrade the wastewater process and increase capacity. During the work, the surroundings may be affected for short periods, but the plant will remain in operation.

What is happening?

We are building a new process building in the area where staff and equipment are located today. The new building will make wastewater treatment more efficient and increase the capacity of the plant. At the same time, we are working to reduce odour from the facility. As part of the project, we will also review and replace pipelines in the area.

Skanska Sverige AB has been contracted for the work, and the project is carried out as a collaborative design-build contract. Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2027. All measures are included within the plant’s current permits and the existing detailed development plan.

When does the work take place?

  • May 2025: Demolition and ground work begin.
  • Autumn 2025: Construction starts.
  • Summer 2027: The new building is expected to be completed and taken into operation.

How does this affect you?

  • There may be daytime noise and increased construction traffic.Parking options may change during the project.
  • The treatment plant will continue to operate as normal throughout the construction period.
  • Access to the river area may be temporarily redirected – follow signs at Lavettvägen.
