About the project

Boden is growing rapidly, and labour market needs are changing as new industries and businesses are established. To meet these changes, closer collaboration between education and working life is needed.

Navigo develops new ways of working that help children, young people and adults gain knowledge about working life and future career opportunities. The goal is to strengthen motivation, confidence in the future and the ability to make informed education and career choices.

The project will also contribute to greater equality of opportunity and help meet future skills and workforce needs in the municipality and the region.

What we are doing

The project brings together schools, businesses and other community stakeholders to create better opportunities for children, young people and adults to engage with working life.

The work includes:

• Developing career guidance and educational counselling
• Improving work experience placements, workplace learning and study visits
• Strengthening collaboration between schools, businesses and the region
• Running pilot projects in compulsory schools and other educational settings
• Evaluating and sharing experiences to create sustainable long-term working methods

The entire education pathway, from preschool to adult education, is involved in the project together with employers and industry partners.

Timeline and current status

During the project period, methods for collaboration between education and working life will be developed and tested. The work includes pilot initiatives in compulsory schools and may also involve other age groups and educational activities.

Experiences and results from the project will be evaluated, shared and used to establish long-term working methods.

The project is led by the Labour Market and Education Department of the Municipality of Boden.

Funding is provided by the European Social Fund (ESF) and Region Norrbotten.
