Water activities at Boden Cleantech Center

Boden Municipality is planning measures to retain and treat stormwater at Boden Cleantech Center. Before applying for a permit, the municipality is holding a consultation.

About the planned measures

Boden Municipality is preparing a detailed development plan to enable the development of Boden Cleantech Center (BCC), a new innovation centre for environmental and recycling technology.

The plan proposes two stormwater retention basins. The municipality also plans to fill in certain ditches. These measures will retain and treat stormwater from the area.

Permit for water activities

The planned measures involve work in a water area. The work area is expected to cover more than 3,000 square metres. The municipality therefore needs to apply for a permit for water activities under Chapter 11 of the Swedish Environmental Code.

The measures also involve land drainage, as the municipality plans to fill in ditches that are part of existing land drainage schemes. The municipality therefore intends to fully or partially terminate the affected land drainage schemes.

Consultation

The consultation is being held before the municipality applies for a permit for water activities and prepares the environmental impact assessment that will accompany the application.

The consultation is being conducted as a combined investigation and scoping consultation and therefore involves an extended consultation group. It includes affected parties, the public, organisations and associations, government authorities and the municipality.
