Boden Municipality is developing a new detailed plan for an area in Trångfors where a preschool previously stood. The plan aims to enable the sale of the property and create more housing opportunities in the neighbourhood.

Purpose and background

The planning area covers approximately 5,800 square metres and is located in the residential area of Trångfors, about five kilometres southwest of Boden’s town centre. A preschool and daycare centre operated here from the 1980s until the new municipal preschool Hedforsen opened in Trångfors in the autumn of 2023. Since then, the site and buildings have remained vacant.

The purpose of the new detailed development plan is to enable the sale of the property and create additional housing opportunities.

Plan proposal

The detailed development plan examines the conditions for residential use and allows for a variety of housing types, such as detached houses, terraced houses, semi-detached houses, and linked houses. In the northwestern part of the planning area, a forest section is designated in the plan as public land – NATURE, for conservation purposes.

The proposed plan is consistent with the municipality’s comprehensive plan.

Process and decisions

Since the proposed plan is not considered to be of significant public interest, it is being processed through the standard procedure in accordance with the Planning and Building Act (2010:900).

The municipality has assessed that the implementation of the proposed plan is not expected to result in any significant environmental impact.

Consultation

The detailed development plan is on public display for consultation from 17 November to 8 December 2025.

You can review the plan at:

  • Citizen Service, City Hall: Weekdays 08:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00.
  • City Library: During regular opening hours.

Submit comments

f you wish to submit comments on the plan proposal, you must do so in writing no later than 8 December 2025.

Anyone who does not submit written comments during the review period may lose the right to appeal the municipal council’s decision to adopt the detailed development plan.

The detailed development plan is on public display for review from 17 November to 8 December 2025.
