Underground utilities to Boden industrial park

Current status 2025

Winter is here. With darker days, we want to remind everyone moving in traffic to be extra careful and use reflectors for increased safety.

New phase of the project

We are now entering a new phase of the project, where restoration work will be the main focus. Restoration primarily involves reinstating the land, which includes refilling, levelling, and returning what previously existed on the site, such as soil or grass. Some complementary pipeline work may take place in Area 6 during spring/summer 2026.

Where we are currently working

Area 2 – Highway 97 to Gamla Lulevägen

Area 4 – Pump Station

Interior work is ongoing, and exterior land restoration is underway. The walking path and boat launch ramp near the pump station will remain closed throughout the entire construction period. Boat owners are referred to other ramps within the municipality.

Traffic, noise and safety

Access and transport

More work vehicles will move to and from the sites. Access may be limited at times. Always follow signs and on-site guidance.

Vibration and noise

Excavation, drilling and rolling may cause vibration and noise for nearby homes and businesses. Vibration levels are continuously monitored to keep them within permitted limits.

Respect the work zone

For everyone’s safety, please respect barriers and signs. Unauthorised presence in the work area increases the risk of incidents and accidents. Be extra careful near operating machinery.

Working hours and service information

Regular working hours

Monday–Friday, 07:00–16:00.

Additional working hours

Some weeks, work may also take place in the evenings, at night and on weekends to streamline delivery in each area.

Technology: water and wastewater, electricity and fibre

Water and wastewater

Boden Industrial Park will be part of the municipal service area for water and sewage. New pipes are being laid to the site. There is a large need for process water. A new pump station is being built on the Lule River downstream of the Bodsvedjan wastewater treatment plant. Pipes will supply technical water (non-drinking water) taken from the Lule River. Existing pipelines in the corridor are being replaced where capacity is insufficient for the industrial park and other planned development.

Electricity and fibre

The power grid is being reinforced at the substation and at the new technical-water pump station. A trench for fibre is being dug along the entire infrastructure area to secure future digital communication. Some streets and roads will need adjustments during and after trenching.

Property owners in the area

To inform and cooperate with affected property owners, the municipality will share certain personal data with project partners: property designation, name and contact details. The purpose is effective communication and coordination during the project. Partners will have access only during the project period, after which the data returns to the municipality.
