About local development grants
What local development grants are
Local development grants are funds that can be applied for in rural areas affected by hydropower expansion. The money should mainly be used to repair damage caused by water regulation. You can also apply for support for investments that are of general benefit to the local community.
Who can apply
Registered organisations that are open to everyone and have an organisation number can apply for local development grants. Examples include community hall associations, local heritage associations, sports clubs, and other associations active in the area.
What the grants can be used for
Local development grants can be used for investments that benefit many people in the community. Examples:
- Repair and renovation of community halls.
- Purchase of fixed equipment.
- Improvements to sports facilities.
- Marking and upgrading trails and paths.
What the grants cannot be used for
- Operating costs for buildings.
- Purchase of items that are easy to resell and other loose equipment.
- Operation or maintenance of vehicles.
- Investments that may require continued grants in the future.
- Investments that have already been carried out.
- Your own working time.
You cannot apply for local development grants for commercial activities.
How much support you can get in Boden municipality
In Boden municipality, you can receive grants for up to 70 percent of the total cost of the investment or project.
The size of the grant also depends on:
- The municipality’s own priorities for local development grants.
- How much funding remains for the current year.
Application and decision
How to apply
You apply for local development grants through an electronic service at the County Administrative Board of Norrbotten. Each application is then sent to Boden municipality for an opinion. The working group of the Municipal Executive Committee decides whether the municipality supports the application and whether any conditions are needed, based on the current delegation rules.
If you are applying for co financing in a larger project
If you apply for co financing for a larger project, for example within structural funds, through Region Norrbotten, or another major project, this must be clearly stated in your application. You must also present the full project budget. Voluntary work cannot be included in the co financing application because it is not eligible in the main project.
Priorities and contact
What Boden municipality prioritises
Boden municipality gives extra priority to projects and investments that:
- Take place outside urban areas.
- Can be linked to development areas, goals, or success factors in Boden municipality’s strategic plan and growth programme.
- Strengthen the social transition based on the areas and actions within Bodenxt.
- Are assessed as difficult to finance through other grants or funders.
- Are carried out in cooperation between actors from different sectors of society, public, non profit, and private.
- Show funding from more funders than Boden municipality alone.
The more of these points your project meets, the higher priority it will receive.
