Fishing near Boden
Boden is surrounded by lakes, rivers, and streams offering excellent fishing opportunities. You can choose between two major river valleys, several smaller lakes, and streams – many just minutes from the town center.
Examples of fishing waters:
- Lule River, Vittjärv: Good pike fishing close to town.
- Lule River, below the power station: Sea trout and salmon.
- Vitträsket, Sörbyn: A spring-fed lake known for char and large pike.
- Svanisträsk: Known for large trout and a popular competition area.
- Lapptjärn, Storklinten: Home to char.
- Sandträsk: A scenic char lake.
- Vitträsk, Brännberg: Known for big trout.
- Råne River: Pike, zander, salmon, trout, and grayling; crayfish in August.
Year-round fishing
Fishing in Boden is available in both summer and winter. When the lakes freeze, ice fishing becomes a popular experience with char, perch, and pike as common catches. Many lakes are plowed in winter to make them accessible.
Fishing permits and regulations
Most fishing waters require a fishing permit, which can easily be purchased online. Always check the rules for the area you want to fish in, as seasons, catch limits, and permitted methods may vary.
