Snowmobile trails in Boden

In Boden, local snowmobile clubs maintain the trails. Riding on marked trails is the safest way to travel and helps protect wildlife, nature, and other people.

Snowmobiling is not included in the public right of access. You may ride on well-snow-covered and frozen ground as long as you do not damage land, forests, or disturb the surroundings. It is prohibited to ride on forest or agricultural land if there is a risk of damage.

Motorcycles and ATVs with wheels are not allowed on snowmobile trails.

Snowmobile restrictions

Snowmobiles are not allowed on ski tracks, ski facilities, or in their immediate surroundings.
On private roads, the owner may prohibit motor vehicles. Such restrictions must always be clearly marked with signs, gates, or other information.

Rules for snowmobiling

To ride a snowmobile in Sweden, you must:

  • be at least 16 years old with a snowmobile license, or
  • hold a driver’s license or tractor license issued before January 1, 2000.

Snowmobiles are not allowed on public roads except when crossing the road or if the terrain is impassable and you must use the shortest possible stretch of road.

The maximum speed limit is 50 km/h on trails. Near residential areas or specific locations, the limit may be 20 km/h.

When crossing a road, all passengers must get off and walk across on foot.
