Do you need a demolition permit or a notification?

Within a detailed development plan area

When is a demolition permit required?

A demolition permit is required if you want to demolish:

  • A building or part of a building
  • A building or structure that is subject to a demolition prohibition
  • A building or structure that is particularly valuable, for example for historical, cultural, environmental or artistic reasons

When is a demolition permit not required?

A demolition permit is not required if the building:

  • May be built without planning permission and is not particularly valuable
  • Was built with a time-limited planning permission
  • Was built for seasonal use
  • Must be demolished following a decision by the municipality (demolition order)
  • Is intended for total defence purposes

For structures, a demolition permit is not required if they must be demolished following a demolition order or are intended for total defence purposes.

When is a notification required?

If the measure does not require a demolition permit, you must still submit a notification if you plan to demolish a building or part of a building that is larger than 50 m².
