Why solar energy
Solar energy is a renewable and environmentally friendly source of power. It can reduce your electricity costs and make you more self-sufficient.
Solar map
Boden Municipality has developed a solar map. It shows how much solar energy your roof can generate and is a useful tool if you are considering installing solar panels.
Building permit for solar panels
- For single-family houses and duplexes, a building permit is usually not required if the panels follow the slope of the roof.
- For apartment buildings, a building permit may be required.
- A building permit is always required in certain designated areas of the municipality.
Special areas
In Boden Municipality, there are areas of national interest for the armed forces. These are marked as special areas.
Within these areas, a building permit is required to install solar panels or solar collectors, even on private houses. The map shows, for example, special areas around Svartbjörsbyn, Bodträskfors, and larger areas to the south around Heden, Trångfors, and Unbyn.
