Gunnarsbyn recycling center

At the recycling center in Gunnarsbyn, households can leave sorted bulky waste and items for reuse. Businesses leave waste for a fee.

Responsibility and operation

The recycling center in Gunnarsbyn is part of Boden Municipality’s waste management. The facility is operated by RÅEK (Råek Economic Association) on behalf of the municipality.

What you can leave

At the Gunnarsbyn recycling center you leave waste that cannot go into the household bins or is too large to fit. The site is staffed, but you do the sorting yourself with advice and support from the staff.

Households can leave waste free of charge if it fits in a car or small trailer. Businesses always pay according to the current fee schedule.

Examples of accepted waste

  • Energy recovery waste (e.g. foam mattresses without springs, plastic furniture)
  • Wood and timber waste
  • Metal (e.g. bicycles, spades, outdoor grills)
  • Cable
  • Landfill waste (e.g. kitchen porcelain, sanitary porcelain)
  • Gypsum
  • Asbestos (fee applies also for households, only small amounts accepted)
  • Refrigerators and freezers
  • White goods
  • Light bulbs and batteries
  • Hazardous waste (e.g. glue, oil, paint)
  • Electronic waste
  • Packaging and newspapers (recycling station on site)

Textiles

From January 1, 2025, textiles must be sorted separately.

  • Clean and whole textiles should be left for reuse.
  • Worn-out or damaged textiles go to material recycling.

Waste not accepted

  • Car tires, with or without rims (must be returned to a tire dealer via Svensk Däckåtervinning)

Larger volumes

Larger amounts of waste must be taken to Brännkläppen Waste Facility in Boden and will be charged according to the current fee schedule.
