Water in Boden is one of our most important shared resources. By reducing unnecessary water use, we can help prevent shortages and avoid possible restrictions.

Why is this important?
In Sweden, we use on average about 140 litres of water per person per day. As temperatures rise, water use increases. That is why it is especially important that we all help save water in our daily lives.
Last summer, we reduced water use together. Now we need to do it again, to make sure there is enough water for everyone – both now and in the future.
6 easy ways to save water
Small changes in your daily routine can make a big difference:
- Take shorter showers and turn off the water while you lather up. Keep in mind that showers and baths account for the largest share of household water use.
- Only run the dishwasher and washing machine when they are full.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or doing the dishes.
- Fill a jug with cold water and keep it in the fridge to avoid running the tap for a long time.
- Fix dripping taps and leaking toilets.
- Wash your car at a certified car wash that recycles the water.
Do you have a garden or grow your own plants?
You can do even more by:
- Choosing the right plants: Select plants suited to your soil and climate. Drought-tolerant plants are a good option.
- Collecting rainwater: Connect downpipes to barrels and use rainwater. It is also better for plants than tap water.
- Watering wisely: Water less often but thoroughly, so moisture reaches deep into the soil. Water at the base of the plant, not on the leaves.
- Watering at the right time: Water in the morning or evening when evaporation is lowest.
