What is work experience placement?

Work experience placement is a compulsory part of compulsory school. It must cover at least ten days in total. In Boden, students do one week in grade 8 and one week in grade 9.

Work experience in school

Work experience helps you learn about working life, develop your interests and explore jobs. You try different tasks, practise teamwork and see how a workplace functions.

Boden Municipality is one of the area’s largest employers with about 2,500 employees in 239 different job titles. We will need many new colleagues in the coming years and offer many meaningful placements across our services.

Questions and answers for students

Your study and career counsellor visits your class before the placement period and gives you a form. Fill in your details and the placement information. Return the form by the stated date.

The employer decides your hours. A normal day is 5 to 7 hours. You may not start before 06:00 or finish after 20:00.

If the placement is more than 4 kilometres from your home, you can borrow a bus card from the school. This applies only if your placement is within Boden Municipality.

You may bring a packed lunch or eat at the nearest municipal school. If there is no school nearby, you are entitled to a meal allowance.

If you are ill, contact both your placement and your school to report your absence.

Yes. Boden Municipality has an accident insurance that covers you during your placement. If something happens, you or your supervisor must contact the school immediately.
