If you plan to dig, excavate, drill, or use municipal land in a way that may affect traffic, you must have an approved excavation permit and a traffic management plan (TA plan).

Please note that all forms and digital applications (e-services) are currently in Swedish. Contact Citizen Service if you need help in English.

1. Start early

Processing normally takes three to four weeks. In more complex cases, it can take up to three months. Submit your application well in advance before starting your business.

2. costs

You pay a fee for processing your case. The cost depends on its scope but is usually between 5,000 and 10,000 SEK.

The municipality also charges a fee for inspections of your business. How often inspections are carried out depends on the size, type, and duration of the permit. Expect at least one inspection. You pay the fee after the inspection has been carried out.

3. Processing time

When we receive your application, we check that all information is included. If anything is missing, we will ask you to provide it. Once the application is complete, we begin processing. The maximum processing time is three months, but it is usually faster.

4. Important to know

As a business owner, you are responsible for ensuring that your business complies with all regulations and is run safely. There are clear rules for handling flammable and explosive materials. You must also know which substances you handle and their properties.

6. What happens next

Once we have made a decision, we will notify you in writing. The decision may be an approval or a rejection. The permit may include conditions that must be met before you can start. A common condition is that the facility must be inspected by the permit authority.

7. Other things to consider

Not all handling of flammable materials requires a permit. Whether you need a permit depends on the business, the type of material, and the amount handled. In all cases, you must know and follow the legal requirements.
