About the Training
Content and Purpose
Working with medications requires both knowledge and responsibility. The free online course Safe Medication Handling has been developed by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) in collaboration with the Swedish Dementia Centre. It is primarily aimed at care staff working in elderly care.
Delegation
The training provides a foundation before delegation and helps you understand the responsibilities involved in medication handling.
What You Will Learn
Core Skills
- Handle medications safely and correctly.
- Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition.
- Provide good care that may replace or complement medication.
- Recognize symptoms such as those related to diabetes and manage insulin.
Focus on Safety
The training emphasizes accuracy, accountability, and always prioritizing patient safety.
Structure and Diploma
Course Format
- Consists of five short modules.
- Takes around 1.5–2.5 hours to complete.
- Concludes with a knowledge test.
Diploma
After passing the test, you will receive a diploma certifying that you have completed the training.
