What does the job involve?

As an employee in health and social care, you support people who need help in their daily lives. The tasks vary but are always based on each person’s needs. It can include household services such as cleaning or shopping, personal care, support with medication, or social companionship.

You may work with older people, younger people, or people with disabilities. There are also assignments as a contact person or support family.

Working for Boden Municipality also means opportunities to develop. Here, there is a strong culture of trying new ideas and support from colleagues and managers.

Our different workplaces

There are many different workplaces where you can make an important contribution:

Home care is organized by the municipality and provides support so that people can continue living in their own homes. Common tasks include cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping, personal care such as hygiene and dressing, and assistance with medication. It can also include food delivery and support with assistive devices that make everyday life easier. Home care is granted after a needs assessment. The goal is to provide safety and support so that people can live as independently as possible.

Assisted living is a housing option for people aged 65 and older who want more safety and social community but do not need 24-hour care. It is a middle form between living at home and a nursing home. Apartments are usually rental or cooperative, with access to common areas for social activities. Many assisted living facilities also have staff who act as hosts to support community life. This form of housing increases both social interaction and everyday security.

Short-term care provides temporary support with staff available around the clock. It is for people who need care outside their home for a limited time, for example during recovery after a hospital stay, while waiting for a permanent residential care placement, or when family caregivers need relief. Staff include nurses and rehabilitation professionals who provide individualised care. Short-term care requires a needs assessment and aims to provide safety and support in different life situations.

A nursing home, also called residential care, is for people who can no longer live at home due to extensive care needs. Staff are available 24 hours a day and provide personal care, medication, and daily support. The environment is adapted for safety and social participation, with activities and shared meals. The goal is to ensure both security and quality of life, with support adapted to each resident’s needs.

Here you support both younger and older people with disabilities. Workplaces may be in the person’s own home, in supported housing, short-term housing, leisure activities, or group homes. Tasks include personal care, support with daily routines, leisure activities, and social participation. The goal is to give each person a safe and meaningful life based on their individual needs and abilities. This work involves close contact and personal commitment.

Personal assistance is a support service for people with severe and lasting disabilities. The aim is to enable an independent and self-determined life. Assistance may include help with dressing, hygiene, meals, communication, or social participation. The person receiving assistance has significant influence over what support is provided and by whom, making the assistance flexible and individually tailored.
