National Consumer Advisory Bureaus – Specialist Support

There are national bureaus that provide free and impartial advice. Consumer Europe helps with purchases within the European Union. The National Bank and Finance Bureau explains contracts and loans. The Energy Markets Bureau offers advice on electricity, gas and district heating. The Insurance Bureau guides you with insurance matters, and Telecom Advisors provide support with phone, TV and internet subscriptions.

Consumer Europe offers free and impartial assistance with purchases within the European Union, Norway and Iceland. They can guide you both before and after a purchase, for example if you are planning to buy a car abroad or enter into a timeshare contract. They help you understand your rights regarding online shopping, complaints, and when businesses fail to deliver as promised. The bureau is part of a European network and can also mediate in disputes with foreign companies.

This bureau provides support on questions related to banks, credit institutions and finance companies. They explain contracts and terms that are often difficult to understand, such as loans or savings agreements. They also provide independent comparisons of different banks and financial products. The goal is to help you make safe decisions about your personal finances. You should always start with your own bank, but this bureau clarifies your rights and can point to options if you need more guidance.

The Energy Markets Bureau offers independent advice on electricity, gas and district heating. They answer questions about contracts, suppliers and prices, and support you if you want to switch energy companies. The bureau also explains your rights regarding invoices, interruptions and disputes. They receive complaints and raise recurring issues with authorities. Their advice is free of charge and available to all households. They are a neutral actor that does not represent any company, only the consumer’s interests.

This bureau helps you understand and compare different insurances, such as home, child, travel and car insurance. They explain terms and exceptions so you know what coverage you actually have. They also guide you if you want to appeal an insurance decision. You should always contact your insurance company first, but the bureau provides impartial advice on what rules apply. They publish overviews that make it easier to compare companies and find insurance that best suits your needs.

Telecom Advisors provide free advice on phone, TV and internet subscriptions. You can ask questions before signing an agreement and also get help if you have problems with an existing subscription. They explain what applies regarding contract length, cancellations and price changes. If you have a dispute with an operator, they can guide you on how it can be resolved. Their advice is impartial and applies to all consumers, regardless of provider. You can also submit complaints directly to the bureau.
