What is a nautical chart?
A nautical chart is a map of water areas. It shows both land and underwater features. The chart at the bottom of this page was published by Luleå Municipality and produced by Hydrographica in 1987–88 using aerial surveys and echo sounding.
Why is the chart important?
The chart is a tool for anyone traveling by boat. It reduces the risk of running aground and makes it easier to plan trips on the water.
It also provides safety for fishermen, recreational boating, and those exploring natural harbors along the river.
