What is the strategic plan?
The strategic plan is one of the municipality’s most important governance documents. It sets the direction for all municipal activities, including municipal companies, for the current political term. The plan is reviewed and updated annually to ensure that the goals remain relevant.
Development areas and goals
The plan is based on the principle of sound financial management and describes both long-term goals and key development areas. Currently, four areas apply:
- Quality of life
- Public spaces
- Business and skills supply
- Infrastructure
The goals in the plan must be achieved by the end of the political term. Each municipal committee then prepares operational plans showing how the goals will be implemented in practice.
Sound financial management
The aim is for the municipality’s services to be of high quality, provide good service, and have long-term planning. At the same time, resources must be used efficiently to meet future needs and challenges. The strategic plan also describes short-term goals for community development and service improvements.
