Where is video surveillance used?
Boden Municipality uses video surveillance in certain public areas and buildings. This may include recycling centers, some schools, or other municipal facilities. The purpose is always to increase safety and security.
How your privacy is protected
Video surveillance always involves some intrusion into personal privacy. The municipality therefore weighs the need for surveillance against the individual’s right to privacy.
Before cameras are installed, the following is always assessed:
- Whether surveillance is truly necessary
- Whether other measures could achieve the same level of safety
- How privacy can best be protected
We have specific procedures for planning and operations to ensure surveillance is carried out responsibly.
How recorded material is handled
- Footage is only stored for as long as necessary for its purpose.
- Only a limited number of authorized staff can access the material.
- Footage may be shared with the police or other authorities if required.
Information on site
All areas under video surveillance have clear signs indicating that monitoring is in place.
