We plan, build, and take care of many of the things that make everyday life work in Boden – from clean water and snow-cleared roads to safe schools, beautiful parks, and inspections that protect the environment and public health.

Our areas of responsibility

The Community Development Department is responsible for the municipality’s physical environment, infrastructure, and transportation. We work to ensure everything in your daily life runs smoothly – from clean water in the tap to snow-cleared streets.

We make sure there is always clean water in the taps. Food waste is turned into biogas, and we manage recycling collection points.

We work to make public transport accessible. We also handle transport services for people with special needs and parking permits for those who require them.

We maintain the municipality’s streets and roads, including snow clearance for streets and cycle paths. We are also responsible for decorations in parks, streets, and public squares.

We manage the municipality’s schools, preschools, and care homes. This includes property maintenance, cleaning services, and rental of premises for various needs.

We ensure that businesses comply with laws and regulations. This includes environmental regulations and licensing rules for serving alcohol.
