When to use the whistleblowing service
The whistleblowing service is for reporting serious wrongdoing or misconduct that is of public interest. This can include:
- Bribery, fraud, or theft
- Conflict of interest or inappropriate secondary employment
- Personal gain or benefit obtained through one’s position
- Favouring a close relative in an improper way
- Other violations of law
For personal issues and complaints
Do not use the whistleblowing service for personal problems or conflicts related to your own work situation. Such matters are handled within your workplace.
If you want to make a complaint or leave feedback about the municipality’s services, you can use the municipality’s feedback service instead.
Who can report
The whistleblowing service can be used by anyone who has a work-related connection to Boden Municipality. This includes:
- Employees and elected representatives.
- Job applicants or people making job-related inquiries.
- Interns and volunteers.
- Consultants.
- Suppliers and potential suppliers.
How to make a report
Boden Municipality uses NorthWhistle to receive whistleblowing reports. Fill in the form and describe what you want to report. Your report will be handled by a dedicated team within the municipality.
Contact details
At the end of the form, you can choose to provide your contact details. This makes it easier for the investigators to contact you if they need more information. If you provide your contact details, your identity will be protected by confidentiality.
If you want to remain anonymous
If you want to remain completely anonymous, you need to save the case number and password shown after you submit your report. You can use these to log in again, follow your case and respond to any questions.
Protection for whistleblowers
You are protected by law when you report in good faith. The municipality is not allowed to punish or prevent anyone from reporting suspected wrongdoing.
To be protected, you must have a reasonable belief that the information you provide is true. The protection does not apply if you knowingly provide false information. In such cases, the municipality may take action.
All reports are handled confidentially. Your identity is protected by law, your internet address is not stored, and there is no way to trace who you are.
Whistleblower protection is strengthened by other laws, such as employment protection legislation, the law on employee participation, and the constitutional right to share information with the media.
