Boden's cinema is making a comeback!
It’s almost here! During the spring, the Municipality of Boden has been working intensively to reopen the cinema in the Medborgarhuset. Now, a soft opening is just around the corner!
"During the spring, we managed to find a solution where the Municipality of Boden is buying back parts of the previous cinema equipment – provided it’s compatible with the new equipment we’ve purchased," says Fredrik Rönnberg, Head of Culture for the municipality.
Unfortunately, the old movie screen couldn’t be salvaged after it was dismantled, but a new screen has been ordered and is on its way to Boden.
In January, the Municipality of Boden took over the management of the building that houses the city’s central cultural venues – a hub for culture, meetings, and community. Both short-term and long-term investments are now being planned. The cinema is the heart of the building and a top-priority project.
"It feels fantastic that we’re this close. A lot of dedication has gone into this, and it means a great deal to many people," says Fredrik Larsson, who is responsible for the cinema and facilities at Medborgarhuset and has followed the development over many years.
NEW WEBSITE – EVERYTHING ABOUT THE CINEMA IN ONE PLACE
A brand-new website is also launching, where you'll be able to see upcoming films, book tickets, read about events, and reserve venues in the building.
"We’re currently testing the technology, and if all goes according to plan, we’ll be able to start screening films in Boden very soon. We hope to invite everyone to a soft opening this summer, followed by a full fall program," says the team behind the initiative.
Keep your eyes open – we’re about to roll again!
