Cinema screen installed – movie premiere at Kulturnatta
The long-planned installation of the cinema screen and equipment this week has unfortunately been cancelled due to sudden illness. This means that the planned cinema premiere has to be postponed.
"It feels very disappointing, but it’s unfortunately out of our control. The goal now is to have the premiere during Kulturnatta in August instead," says Fredrik Larsson, Operations Coordinator at Medborgarhuset.
The long journey of Boden’s new cinema screen from France – via strikes and closed ports – has finally reached Boden. Last week, the long roll was carried into Medborgarhuset, and there were hopes to start showing films soon. Technicians for the installation were booked for this week. The final step was to connect and test the equipment that the Municipality of Boden has decided to purchase from the previous operators of the cinema in Boden.
"This isn’t something just anyone can connect; there are only a few people in Sweden who can do it," says Fredrik Larsson.
The projector, among other things, needs to be calibrated and connected to various distributors, and the new screen has to be mounted and connected.
Everything was ready for installation today, but unfortunately, illness threw a sudden wrench in the works. Combined with recovery time, summer holidays, and the fact that several key people are needed to install this type of equipment, the decision has been made to wait until everyone is back.
“We have great contact and trust in the team doing this work. They understand our situation and will be here on the very first day everyone is available again,” explains Fredrik Larsson.
The new goal now is to be able to show films in Boden again during Kulturnatta at the end of August.
“As long as nothing unexpected happens,” Fredrik adds cautiously.
And just to be safe, after all the twists and turns, let’s knock on wood – hopefully by Kulturnatta we’ll be popping cinema popcorn again and rolling out the red carpet!
Good things come to those who wait…
