Use water wisely this summer

Summer places higher demands on our shared water supply. By conserving water now, we help ensure availability – for both people and the environment.

When temperatures rise and rain is scarce, there is an increased risk that the water supply will not be sufficient. In such cases, the municipality may implement a watering ban to secure drinking water for the most essential needs: drinking, cooking, and hygiene. But it is wise to save water regardless of the weather. Small everyday actions make a big difference – both for nature and the future.

6 Simple Ways to Conserve Water

  1. Water with rainwater – not drinking water.
  2. Water late in the evening – less will evaporate.
  3. Take shorter showers and turn off the water while you soap up.
  4. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth or doing the dishes.
  5. Keep a jug of cold water in the fridge – then you won’t have to run the tap for a long time.
  6. Avoid filling your pool with drinking water – order a tank truck with non-potable water instead.

If you have a garden or crops, you can make a big difference by planning smart and choosing drought-resistant plants. Every action, big or small, counts.

Why Is It Important to Save Water?

Swedish summers are becoming warmer and drier. This lowers groundwater levels and increases evaporation. It affects both nature and the availability of tap water.

Many of us share the same resource. By reducing unnecessary consumption, we can together avoid shortages and restrictions.
