School starts soon – together we can make the journey safer!
Many children will soon be going back to school. For some, it’s a return to familiar routines; for others, it’s their very first time. New routes, new schedules, and new traffic situations await. We can all contribute to a safer school environment.
Tips for Parents and Adults
Many children are driven to and from school, which can create congestion around schools. This affects both safety and the environment.
Keep the following in mind:
- Try out the school route together – walk, cycle, or use public transport.
- Talk about helmets, reflectors, and staying alert in traffic.
- Make sure the bicycle has functioning brakes, a bell, and lights as required by law.
For Those Driving Near Schools
As a driver, you play an important role in creating a safe traffic environment, especially at the start of the school year. Children are often unpredictable in traffic and have difficulty judging distance and speed.
Remember the following when driving near schools:
- Reduce your speed near schools.
- Be extra attentive – children often move impulsively.
- Avoid parking in a way that blocks visibility.
Meet the Traffic Department at the Harvest Festival
We will be there to talk about traffic and how you can get around the municipality – on foot, by bike, bus, or car. Feel free to stop by the green bus and ask your questions!
