Vote for your local hero!
On Saturday 8 November, we invite you to the Local Hero Gala at the Medborgarhuset in Boden. This will be a memorable evening where we celebrate our community spirit, our champions, associations and role models. The Local Hero Award 2025 will be given to a person with burning enthusiasm, drive and energy who inspires others. The local hero is someone who is always there, sharing their time, strength, drive and commitment. Above all, it is the people of Boden themselves who will vote for the winner. Who is your local hero?
The nominees for Local Hero 2025 are:
Göran Honkamaa
With tireless energy, he runs senior training, adult ski school and beginner sessions for Sävast Ski Team. Göran’s commitment is just as strong now at 85 as when he co-founded the association.
Kaisa Olsson
With folk dancing, ring games and bread baking, she has passed on Boden’s traditions for decades. Under her leadership, people of all ages and backgrounds meet as equals – in joy and togetherness around the midsummer pole at Norrigården.
Lennart “Lillen” Lindström
A local hero who has passionately trained and continues to train generations of hockey players here in the north. At 74, he remains deeply engaged, knowledgeable and dedicated to young people, inspiring and coaching them in Boden’s hockey club.
Robin Isaksson
Passionate about handball, he has brought new life to Hornskrokens IF. With great dedication and joy, he spends his time on children and young people, promoting team spirit and giving young athletes the chance to have as much fun as possible along the way.
Anna-Karin Liljestrand
This multicultural songbird is a true local hero who has made a great contribution to brightening Boden’s cultural life. In addition to her work with Kulturcrew, she helps young people and engages in all kinds of cultural activities in Boden.
The winner will be announced at the Local Hero Gala on 8 November. Voting closes on 26 October.
