Preparedness Week 2025: You are part of Sweden’s total defence!

22–28 September is Preparedness Week throughout Sweden – including in Boden. We invite you to a lecture with the municipality’s preparedness coordinator, Disa Kristiansdotter, and highlight several digital talks. Take the chance to sharpen your crisis preparedness and learn more about how you can contribute to total defence.

Preparedness Week is a national information campaign coordinated by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). The aim is to strengthen citizens’ resilience in times of crisis and war. During the week, actors across the country take part in raising society’s preparedness together.

Lecture in Boden: “Boden and total defence – what does it mean for you?”

Date: Wednesday 24 September
Time: 18.00–19.00
Place: Town Hall, council chamber

Did you know that Boden is an important part of Sweden’s total defence? But what does it mean in practice for you who live here?

During the lecture, Disa Kristiansdotter, the municipality’s preparedness coordinator, will talk about Boden’s work with crisis preparedness and total defence. You will also get practical tips on how to strengthen your own preparedness and contribute to a safer society.

Coffee, tea and sandwiches will be served – a perfect opportunity to network and ask questions.

Film screening at the Defence Museum

As part of Preparedness Week, the Defence Museum invites you to a joint film screening on the theme: “What can we do in a crisis?”

Two screenings are offered:

  • Thursday 25 September 11.30. Lunch screening – bring your lunchbox and watch together with colleagues.
  • Friday 26 September 09.30. Morning screening – take the opportunity to watch the film with your morning coffee.
Coffee will be served to all participants.

Exercises in schools

During Preparedness Week, pupils in both preschool and compulsory school will take part in various exercises focusing on preparedness and safety. The purpose is to increase knowledge and strengthen resilience among children and young people in the event of a crisis or disruption.

In preschools, both shelter-in-place and evacuation (fire) drills will be carried out. With consideration to the young age of the children, the exercises are done in a playful way, while teachers practise according to the applicable routines and methods.

In lower secondary schools, teaching material from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is used. Through short films and follow-up discussions, pupils reflect on different crisis situations and strengthen their preparedness. The week concludes with scenario-based exercises where pupils put their knowledge into practice.

Digital talks from the County Administrative Board

The County Administrative Board of Norrbotten will publish a new digital talk every weekday during Preparedness Week. They are available from 10.00 on the Board’s website.

How would you like to get involved?

If crisis or war comes, we need to help each other. Knowing your neighbours makes it easier to cooperate. As a member of an association or a voluntary defence organisation, you can make a big difference – both in everyday life and in a crisis.
