Recruitment and education fair gathered 180 visitors in Boden
On 17 September, Boden Municipality, Luleå Municipality, LTU Business, and the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) organized a well-attended and appreciated recruitment and education fair as part of the Green Future Competence 2.0 project.
During two hours, around 180 visitors had the opportunity to meet 35 exhibitors – both employers and education providers – at 43:an Galleria in central Boden.
One of the exhibitors was Lindströms Transport, which – like many other transport companies – has a great need for drivers.
“The whole industry is crying out for drivers, the need is enormous,” says Elias Bjelke, operations manager at Lindströms Transport.
Birgitta Jysky, CFO and marketing manager at Utbildning Nord, agrees that fairs are a good way to be visible and to present educational opportunities.
“We think it’s important to participate,” she says.
Among the visitors was Stefan Isaksson, who had traveled from Piteå to attend the fair. He found the range of both employers and education providers interesting.
“I made many good contacts today – it’s completely different to meet in person instead of only online,” he says.
At the booths of LTU Business and the adult education centers in Luleå and Boden, visitors could try out professions such as CNC operator, electrician, and firefighter using VR technology and the Jobbcirkus concept. With VR glasses, visitors could, for a short while, repair electrical systems, put out fires, and even practice dental care.
“It’s an inspiring way to visualize different professions,” says Karin Sandlund, project manager at LTU Business.
The organizers from Boden Municipality, Luleå Municipality, LTU Business, and the Swedish Public Employment Service were very satisfied with the day and with the strong participation from both exhibitors and visitors.
“Exhibitor spots filled up quickly when registration opened, which we see as a very positive sign,” says Stina Burström, process leader at Boden Municipality.
The Green Future Competence 2.0 project is funded by the European Social Fund and Region Norrbotten.
