A beautiful spot for all residents of Boden
Boden Municipality’s Parks Unit has set up a new barbecue area by Bodträsket — with a focus on reuse and accessibility.
When Christoffer Larsson, Production Manager at the Parks Unit, discovered the spot, he immediately saw its potential.
“It is an incredibly beautiful place. I wanted to make it accessible to the people of Boden and create somewhere everyone can enjoy the view,” says Christoffer.
The barbecue area is built from repurposed materials. The benches around the fire pit are made from timber sourced from the municipality’s own forest. The grill ring has been reworked from materials previously used to raise flower pots off the ground.
“We’ve also placed benches facing the water. Since we’re currently renovating playgrounds at the Parks Unit, we were able to reuse bench frames from Vasaparken and then replace the planks,” Christoffer explains.
Boulders previously used for shoreline protection have been saved and arranged around the barbecue area to frame the setting. Another key investment has been improving accessibility. The Parks Unit has levelled the ground alongside the pedestrian and cycle path to make the area easier to reach for people with reduced mobility.
