The new website boden.se makes it easier to find what you’re looking for

On October 28, Boden Municipality will launch a new version of boden.se – a website designed to make it easier for residents to quickly find the right information, in the right place, with just a few clicks.

Behind the project are Camilla Arvidsson and Beatrice Isaksson from the municipality’s Communications Unit, who have spent the past year and a half designing and developing the new site from the ground up. Their vision has been clear from the start: you should find what you’re looking for in no more than three clicks.

“From the statistics on the previous website, we could see that many people struggled to find what they needed. The information was hard to read and scattered,” says Camilla Arvidsson, Communications Officer with special responsibility for boden.se. “So we chose to create a simpler navigation structure, a clearer layout, and more everyday language.”

The development has been based on how residents actually use the website – especially on mobile phones.

“Most visitors access boden.se on their phones, so it was natural for us to design everything from that perspective. It forced us to prioritise what’s most important and make the content as simple and accessible as possible, no matter the screen size,” says Beatrice Isaksson, Communications Strategist.

The new website is also bilingual – in Swedish and English, making it easier for both residents and visitors to find the information they need.

What You’ll Find on the New Website

  • Faster navigation: A clear, expanded mega menu with 54 sections reflecting the topics most frequently searched by Boden residents.
  • Simpler language: Texts written in plain, everyday Swedish with clear headings.
  • Better structure: The number of pages has been cut in half – less clutter, more value.
  • Mobile-first design: Most functions now work seamlessly on your phone.
  • Two languages: All content is available in both Swedish and English.

What to Expect at Launch

  • Bookmarks: Some page addresses have changed. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, use the search bar or the new drop-down mega menu.
  • The “Mitt Boden” app: Some functions in the app may be temporarily affected in the first few days after launch. We’re aware of this and are working to restore full functionality as soon as possible.

The Work Continues

“A website is never really finished. The real work starts now – following up on how people use it and continuing to develop it based on visitors’ needs,”
says Camilla Arvidsson.

Beatrice Isaksson agrees:

“We’ll keep improving the content continuously, based on both user statistics and residents’ feedback. That’s how we’ll keep boden.se alive and relevant over time.”
