Boden welcomes job seekers from southern Sweden

More than 30 job seekers visited Boden this week to explore job and lifestyle opportunities within healthcare, social care, transport, and industry. The visit offered a guided tour and information about Boden’s ongoing social transformation, local job market, housing, culture, relocation services, and tourism, as well as meetings with employers..

Visitors from the south were greeted by the season’s first soft, glittering snow. At the Stegra viewpoint tower, Visit Boden welcomed them with coffee, warm buns, and a crackling fire. The group learned about the ongoing community transition, viewed the Stegra area from above, and joined “The Boden Tour” — from Nordpoolen via the travel centre, church, and heritage park, to the ice rink, Björknäsvallen, Rödberget Fortress, and the Defence Museum — guided by Boden’s relocation service. The tour ended with dinner at Western Farm, where they received more information about local tourism, culture, community life, housing, schools, and relocation experiences from Samira Westlin, who herself moved to Boden and now works at JobbCenter.

“I’d love to move north — I love nature and have experience from both service jobs and industry,” says Tina Hanjani from Helsingborg.

She first met representatives from Boden Municipality at the Jobbinorr Fair in Malmö earlier this autumn and hopes that this visit will open new doors.

Magnus Lind from Uppsala, a truck driver who previously worked in Kiruna, shares the sentiment:

“I love Norrland and want to move back up here,” he says.

Christian Lepsenyi from Älmhult agrees. Having run his own business and worked in the construction and civil engineering industry, he says:

“I’ve been hunting in northern Sweden for many years and always thought I’d like to live here — so now I figured it’s time to give it a try,” he says with a smile.

The visit was organised in collaboration with Luleå Municipality and the Swedish Public Employment Service. On the second day, a job fair was held with participation from Boden Municipality, SMS Group, LN Industrimontage, Stegra, and several other local employers.
