A Week Free From Violence 17 to 23 November

This week we are highlighting the Week Free From Violence. The aim is to raise awareness of men's violence against women, violence in close relationships and honour based violence, as well as to show where support is available for those who need it.

At boden.se you can find information about where to turn if you need help or are worried about someone close to you. Here you can find important phone numbers if, for example, you need to contact social services or talk to someone: boden.se/en/emergency-help

A societal issue that affects us all

Violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or background. It can be physical, psychological, sexual, digital or economic. It often takes place silently and behind closed doors, yet it exists in all groups and environments.

Violence in close relationships is not a private matter. It is a societal issue that we all need to help make visible and prevent. By talking about violence, raising awareness and recognising warning signs, we can make a difference. As a fellow human being, you can support someone by listening without judgement and knowing where to refer a person who needs help.

Together for a safer Boden

The Week Free From Violence is an opportunity to pause and reflect on how we can build a safer community where respect, care and equality are guiding values. A community where no one should feel fear in their daily life.

Thank you for contributing to a safer and more caring Boden, this week and every week of the year.

“A WEEK FREE FROM VIOLENCE” AT BJÖRKNÄS UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL

On 19 November, the Social Services Department, together with the Police, the Boden Women’s Shelter, the Boden Youth Clinic, and school counsellors, were present at Björknäs Upper Secondary School to highlight the campaign A Week Free from Violence.

During the day, they met many curious and engaged students who wanted to learn more about different forms of violence and how to access support. The conversations with the young people were both important and constructive, demonstrating a strong interest in the issues.

Students also had the opportunity to take part in competitions, with prizes generously sponsored by local businesses.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved and to the companies that contributed and made the day possible. Together, we work to increase knowledge, strengthen prevention, and create a safer Boden for everyone.
