Collaboration for a safer and healthier Boden
Boden has a vibrant community life with around 300 active associations. Boden Municipality has, together with Save the Children and RF-SISU Norrbotten, worked in a joint project to strengthen cooperation with civil society. The goal is to promote health, safety, and social sustainability for everyone living in the municipality.
During the year, the project has been carried out with support from the SustainGov innovation programme, funded by Vinnova. The purpose has been to map and develop a collaboration model for how the municipality works together with civil society — meaning the associations and organisations that play an important role in people’s everyday lives. As part of the project, a workshop was held in the spring with around 40 participants from community organisations and municipal operations. Together, they identified both challenges and opportunities for improving collaboration over time.
Dialogue meetings that strengthen public health
As part of the new collaboration model, the municipality’s public health strategist will invite associations and organisations to dialogue meetings twice a year. These meetings will create opportunities for networking, sharing knowledge, and receiving updates on the municipality’s public health efforts.
“We want to create a place where people and ideas can meet, so that together we can find new ways to promote health and a sense of community in Boden,” says Anna-Karin Isaksson, public health strategist for Boden Municipality and project manager.
Easier contact and more opportunities
To make it easier to get in touch with the municipality, a dedicated contact email is available: mailDKS@boden.se
, which can be used for questions related to public health and social sustainability.
Boden Municipality has also joined the Funding Portal, a digital tool that helps associations easily find and apply for project funding. The portal gathers thousands of grants from various national and international funders.
Making a difference together
There are already many good examples of collaboration in Boden. With the new model, it will be easier to build on what is already working well.
“By meeting, listening, and working together, we can create an even stronger Boden where everyone has the opportunity for good health, safety, and a sense of belonging,” says Anna-Karin.
