How we respond to a growing Boden

The number of people moving around in Boden has increased rapidly. To keep up with this development, a well-established collaboration is in place between authorities and different actors in the community.

“We have extremely close contact and a very well-functioning collaboration,” says Alf Wennskog, safety officer at Boden Municipality.

The term “we” refers to several structured collaboration groups and regular coordination meetings. Contact points and working methods were already established when the pace of the societal transition increased. The measures taken now are a natural continuation of the work carried out within, among others, the Safety and Public Health Council, the operational safety group, and the coordinated safety partnership.

This means short lines of communication into networks involving different municipal departments, the police, businesses, property owners, and more. Through monthly and weekly check-ins — and additional meetings when needed — trends are identified early and actions are taken to prevent problems from growing.

Examples of concrete measures:

  • Increased security patrols in central Boden
  • Targeted interventions in areas where concerns have been reported
  • Increased police presence in central Boden
  • Strengthened cooperation between the restaurant network, security guards, and the municipality
  • Local operational collaboration — joint efforts between multiple authorities
  • A new cooperation agreement between Boden Municipality and the local police in Luleå–Boden

“The measures we take are based on actual developments — information, statistics, and reports that come in. If you see something that doesn’t look right, report it,” says Alf Wennskog.

Where to turn

In an ongoing emergency or suspected ongoing crime, call 112.

For tips or non-urgent matters, call 114 14, the police tip line, open 24/7 all year round. You can also use the online service: polisen.se/utsatt-for-brott/polisanmalan

When you are out in town, you can contact uniformed police officers or patrolling security guards. They can receive tips about disturbances or activities that make people feel unsafe.

Remember! You do not need to know that a crime is happening — a suspicion is enough to contact 112.
