More people can get support for cultural events in the Municipality of Boden
Ahead of 2026, the Municipality of Boden is expanding its support for cultural events. In addition to non-profit associations, cultural companies, organizations, and independent professional cultural practitioners will now also be able to apply for cultural event funding. The aim is to strengthen and develop cultural life in the rapidly growing municipality.
“By opening up cultural event funding to more actors, we broaden the opportunities to create a vibrant and diverse cultural life throughout Boden. Culture is organized in many forms, from non-profit associations to independent producers and professional cultural practitioners, and the support now reflects that reality. By complementing the strong non-profit cultural sector with more actors, we create better conditions for a broad, sustainable, and accessible cultural offering for both Boden residents and visitors,” says Linnéa Byberg, Cultural Development Officer in the Municipality of Boden.
Previously, non-profit associations in the Municipality of Boden have been able to apply for both annual cultural activity support and support for public cultural events. From 2026, event support will also include:
- Legal entities such as organizations, foundations, and companies (with the exception of municipally owned companies)
- Individual private practitioners with an F- or FA-tax certificate who are registered in the Municipality of Boden
The support applies to public cultural activities and cultural events that take place in the Municipality of Boden and are open to the general public.
Background
The change is driven by several interacting factors. The number of cultural actors has decreased, while allocated funds have not been fully utilized. In addition, cultural life has changed over time, and today it is not only associations that organize cultural activities.
In 2025, the Culture, Leisure and Youth Committee tasked the Culture Unit with investigating the issue and developing a new proposal. The new model that has now been adopted is in line with solutions already used in several other municipalities.
LOSS GUARANTEE
In addition to cultural activity support and organizer support, non-profit associations in the Municipality of Boden can also apply for a loss guarantee. This support is only available to associations.
