Boden will take part in Almedalen
The municipality of Boden will participate on site during Almedalen 2026. The background is the extensive transformation currently taking place in Boden and the need to contribute practical experience when national issues such as industrial transition, total defence and community development are discussed.
Boden is in the middle of a historic development. New green industry is being established, the Swedish Armed Forces are expanding, new jobs are being created and the population is increasing beyond earlier forecasts. This development affects many parts of society, from housing construction and skills supply to infrastructure and public services.
“Many of the issues discussed during Almedalen Week are already a reality in Boden. By being present, we can contribute everyday experience and practical knowledge, while engaging in dialogue with decision-makers and other public stakeholders,” says Beatrice Öman, Chair of the Municipal Executive Board of Boden.
Boden’s delegation will include both political representatives and municipal officials from the municipality and its municipal companies. The focus will be on the green industrial transition, total defence, community development, housing and skills supply.
“When development moves quickly, it is important that both political priorities and practical experience are part of the discussion. At Almedalen Week, representatives from politics, business and public authorities meet, and we want to contribute Boden’s perspective,” says Beatrice Öman.
In an election year, when many decisions affecting Sweden’s future competitiveness are being discussed, Boden sees value in taking part in the dialogue and contributing local experience from a municipality where the transition is already under way in practice.
“We want to show what societal transformation looks like at the local level – the opportunities it creates, the challenges it brings, and the conditions required to make it sustainable over time,” says Beatrice Öman.
