Borrow the energy bag – find the energy thieves!

The Energy Bag is a free service that allows you to borrow smart tools to track down energy wasters in your property. Just like borrowing a regular book, you can easily check out the bag at Boden City Library.

Boden is one of the municipalities now offering the Energy Bag to its residents. Two Energy Bags are available at the city library, filled with tools that you can borrow completely free of charge. The bag includes, among other things, a thermal imaging camera, an energy meter, a smoke pen, and a hygrometer. With these tools, you can detect heat loss, drafts, high electricity consumption, and measure humidity levels in a home, business premises, or association facility.

The results provide a clearer picture of how energy is being used and make it easier to make well-informed decisions, reduce unnecessary energy costs, and improve energy efficiency. Experience shows that many people want simple, practical tools to help them take the first step toward a more energy-efficient everyday life.

To borrow the Energy Bag, you must have a valid library card and be over 18 years old.

The tools are designed so that anyone can use them, even without prior knowledge.

Boden Municipality’s climate and energy advisor, Peter Nordmark, welcomes the initiative and highly recommends borrowing the bags.

“I’m receiving many questions right now, mainly from private individuals. The Energy Bag is great for identifying energy wasters, and you can borrow it free of charge for two weeks. Some simple measures that often become clear after measuring include checking for drafty windows and doors, installing timer controls for engine and cabin heaters, turning off electronics that are not in use, and conserving hot water,” says Peter.

Peter is available for general climate and energy advice and can also help you interpret the results and suggest possible measures.

The Energy Bag project is run by Energikontor Norr in collaboration with municipal libraries and municipal energy and climate advisors in the participating municipalities.

The initiative is funded by the EU and Leader Spira Mare.
