Make a difference – become an election official in the 2026 election

On 13 September 2026, Sweden will hold elections for the national parliament (Riksdag), the regional council and the municipal council. To make sure the election is carried out safely and correctly, we need election officials in Bodens Municipality.

As an election official, you play an important role in making sure everyone can vote in a safe and fair way.

Your duties

You will work as part of a team, either during advance voting (which starts 18 days before election day) or at a polling station on election day.

Your tasks include:

  • making sure everything runs smoothly in the polling station
  • receiving votes and putting them in the ballot box
  • checking voters’ names in the electoral register
  • helping voters who need assistance
  • counting the votes after the polling station closes (on election day)

There is always a chairperson or vice chairperson in charge at each polling station. You will never work alone. There are at least two election officials during advance voting and at least three on election day.

Training and responsibility

All election officials must complete mandatory training before the election. The training prepares you for your tasks and helps you feel confident in your role.

The work requires accuracy, responsibility and a friendly, helpful attitude. Together, we make sure the election is safe, fair and correct.

Who can apply?

You must be at least 18 years old by election day. You should be responsible, service-minded and comfortable working with others.
