Keep an eye on your water!

When it is very cold for a long period of time, the risk of water pipes freezing increases. Pay attention if the water runs slowly, the pressure becomes weaker, or the water stops completely.

A cold winter causes the ground to freeze deeper than normal. This increases the risk that water pipes become chilled and, in the worst case, freeze. You may notice this if the water runs slowly, the pressure decreases, or the water stops completely.

If your watter supply is affected

If you have municipal water and notice lower pressure or that the water stops, you should report an issue. Quick reporting allows us to investigate and fix the problem sooner.

how to reduce the risk

As a property owner, you are responsible for the pipes on your property and inside your house. You can help prevent problems by:

  • Making sure pipes in cold areas are properly insulated.
  • Keeping garages, storage rooms, and other spaces with water pipes closed and protected from cold air.
  • Checking that vents and taps do not let in cold air.
