Boden strengthens meal preparedness with government support

The Municipality of Boden has been awarded SEK 1.26 million to strengthen its ability to provide meals in schools, healthcare and social care services during a crisis or war.

The municipality will receive SEK 1,260,000 in investment funding from the Swedish Food Agency for 2026. The funding will be used to further develop preparedness within public meal services.

"This strengthens our preparedness and our ability to maintain meal services in the event of a crisis or, in the worst case, war. Being able to provide food for our target groups, such as children and older people, is a fundamental matter of security", says Lena Kruse, head of the department of Democracy, communication and security in the Municipality of Boden.

The funding will, among other things, be used to continue building up food reserves, ensuring that the municipality can provide meals even during major societal disruptions.

Boden is one of 28 municipalities in Sweden receiving this support. During the year, exercises will also be carried out to test and further develop preparedness. The work builds on previous investments and is followed up in collaboration with the Swedish food agency.
