Updated: Information about materials from the SSAB site in Luleå

A company in Boden, which is licensed to handle hazardous waste, is currently storing materials from SSAB’s site. The company is responsible for how the materials are handled, and the municipality ensures that this is done in accordance with applicable regulations.

The municipality has reviewed the samples that have been taken and received information about the contents of the materials. The initial information received by the municipality was that the materials originated from a different part of the site.

Today, April 24 at approximately 10:00, the operator informed the municipality that a certain quantity of the materials may originate from the same area where individuals have shown symptoms. The municipality is in ongoing contact with the operator regarding this matter.

At present, there are no reported cases of illness or similar symptoms among people working at the facility in Boden.

The Municipality of Boden is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with relevant stakeholders.
