Technology program big winner in innovation competition

Two teams from the Technology Program at Björknäsgymnasiet recently achieved major success in the “Social Benefit” category at Sweden’s largest innovation competition, Young Innovators, held at the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm.

In a competition featuring 1,000 participating students and a total of 447 entries, two teams from Björknäsgymnasiet in Boden advanced to the finals at the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm.

In the Social Benefit category, SignTrack won first place. The team consisted of Felix Sunuvar, Vide Rörland, and Helge Linden. Their innovation was a sign language app.

Second place in the same category went to FlexLid. The idea for the adaptable saucepan lid was developed by Hjalmar Nordberg, Erik Yttling, and Hugo Liden.

During the awards ceremony, teachers Charlotte Lundmark and Susanne Hedlund Nilsson were also honored with the Upper Secondary School Innovation Teachers of the Year award. The entire team received an additional distinction as Innov8 Rocket of the Year.

These prestigious awards reflect the long-term commitment to innovation education within the program. The team works purposefully to give students opportunities to develop ideas, solve real-world problems, and turn creativity into practical action.

To make the trip to Stockholm and receive the awards possible, the local business community also stepped in to provide support.

A och D Arkitektkontor, together with Akori, EBK Infra, El- och Brandskyddskontroll, and Vatten- och Miljökonsulterna, contributed the remaining funds needed to ensure that everyone involved could travel to Stockholm and take part in the ceremony.

The Technology Programme also received support from Unga Innovatörer.

This is a shining example of how the local business community supports the next generation of innovators from Boden.

Congratulations to all of you on these outstanding achievements!
