Boden wants to invest in the development of Storklinten

Storklinten is a well-known destination for skiing, outdoor recreation and leisure activities. Every year, the area attracts everyone from elite national team athletes to local residents and visitors from across Sweden.

If the Municipal Council approves the proposal, Bodens Kommunföretag AB will acquire shares in Storklinten Rekreation AB through a new share issue. The investment will provide the company with the financial resources needed to continue developing the facility in the years ahead.

“Storklinten is an important part of Boden. It offers opportunities for outdoor recreation, tourism and future development. By becoming a co-owner, we want to help create the conditions for the facility to continue growing and remain a valuable asset for residents, visitors and the municipality for many years to come,” says Johan Johansson, CEO of Bodens Kommunföretag AB.

New ski lift and slope planned

Part of the investment is intended to support the development of the ski area through the construction of a new ski slope and a new lift. The goal is to make the facility even more attractive to families, sports clubs and visitors.

Over the years, Storklinten has invested in new accommodation and continued to develop the area. Its long-term vision is to become a year-round destination.

“A vibrant visitor economy creates value for the entire municipality. Storklinten plays an important role both for outdoor recreation and for Boden’s attractiveness as a place to live and visit. That is why we view the opportunity to support its continued development very positively,” says Johan Johansson.

Municipal Council to make the final decision

The decision by the Municipal Executive Board means that the matter will now be referred to the Municipal Council, which will make the final decision.

If approved, Bodens Kommunföretag AB will become a minority shareholder in Storklinten Rekreation AB with an ownership stake of 26.7 percent. The investment amounts to approximately SEK 10 million and will give the municipality the opportunity to follow and contribute to the company’s development through representation on its Board of Directors.
