Help shape life close to home

Boden is growing rapidly. Within just a few years, the municipality is expected to welcome several thousand new residents. To succeed, development must be carried out in a smart and efficient way. Housing areas, living environments, infrastructure and public services all need to grow in parallel and adapt to ongoing changes.

In Boden, everything that matters is close at hand – and more besides: schools, jobs, leisure activities, nature, culture and meeting places. We call this life close to home.

This sense of proximity is part of what makes people enjoy living here and choose to stay. It is also one of the things many newcomers appreciate most about Boden, alongside the friendly residents and the strong community spirit created by local associations and organisations.

In its area development work, the Municipality of Boden uses a structured model called The Good Life. The model includes various forms of dialogue and engagement designed to gather ideas, views and feedback from residents.

The results are compiled into area development plans, which are then adopted by elected officials and form the basis for future investments and budget planning.

Plans for Central Boden

In central Boden, the dialogues and consultations carried out from different perspectives within the so-called Central Triangle have now been compiled. In simple terms, this area covers the routes between Coop, the Town Square and Citizens’ Square.

The results will be supplemented with additional public consultations this autumn and will form the basis for an updated development plan for the Central Triangle. The collaboration also includes Boden Together, a partnership of property owners, restaurant operators, the tourism sector, local businesses, retailers and other stakeholders working together with the municipality to support Boden’s continued growth.

In the Sveafältet–Lundagård area, the needs and wishes identified through public dialogue continue to shape development. Long-term planning has enabled various developers to build several new rental housing properties, which are now completed, with more projects in the planning stages.

An outdoor gym, skate park and recreational areas have been created at Blåklockan, where earlier landscaping and planting projects are now beginning to mature. During the year, Kanonparken, opposite O2, will also be upgraded to improve safety and create more inviting walking routes.

In May, the Life Close to Home – Sveafältet event was held through a collaboration between the Municipality of Boden’s skills supply team and the municipal housing company Bodenbo. The aim was to strengthen wellbeing, community spirit and local involvement in the area.
