SE-Alert – Important alerts sent directly to your mobile phone
During the summer of 2026, a new national warning system will begin to be introduced in Sweden. The system is called SE-Alert and makes it possible to send important alerts directly to mobile phones in areas affected by a serious incident.
SE-Alert is a new channel for Important Public Announcements (VMA) and complements existing warning systems such as radio, television, Krisinformation.se External link., and the outdoor warning signal known as Hesa Fredrik.
How SE-Alert works
When a serious incident occurs, authorities and emergency services can send an alert that appears directly on mobile phones within the affected area. The phone emits a distinct sound and vibration while information and instructions are displayed on the screen.
Who can receive the alert?
You do not need to download an app or register your phone number to receive alerts. However, you must:
- Have a compatible mobile phone
- Keep your phone updated with the latest software
- Be connected to the mobile network
- Be located within the area covered by the alert
When is SE-Alert used?
SE-Alert can be used during serious incidents where people need to receive information quickly about how to respond. Examples include major fires, hazardous substance releases, severe weather events, serious accidents, and other emergencies or disruptions affecting society.

Read the message carefully and follow the instructions provided. You may be advised to:
- Go indoors
- Close doors, windows, and ventilation systems
- Avoid a specific area
